Even though Selena Gomez didn’t win a Golden Globe on Tuesday night, she did have the cutest date. The “Only Murders in the Building” star, 30, took her little sister, 9-year-old Gracie Teefey, as her date to the Globes on Jan. 10. This led to the cutest red carpet moment when the multihyphenate called over her little sister to snap pictures with her.
Gomez can be seen waving her sister over in the footage posted by the official Golden Globes Twitter account as she turns to see Teefey standing nearby while she is being photographed. Teefey then sprinted into the arms of her older sister and the two started taking pictures of each other.
Recently, Teefey and Gomez have been seriously bonding as sisters. On January 6, the two appeared in an Instagram post wearing coordinated ensembles as they got ready for a girls’ night out. On January 8, Teefey joined Gomez in a day-early birthday celebration for their friend Nicola Peltz Beckham.
Gomez shared on TikTok that she had actually manifested the nomination more than ten years prior as she celebrated the nomination when it was initially announced for the Golden Globes back in December. The proprietor of Rare Beauty shared a footage from a Feb. 15, 2011, interview with KTLA in which Gomez outlined her hopes for winning an award. When asked if she had aspirations of winning a Grammy, she responded, “Although I believe that would be an honour, I’m more of a Golden Globe or Oscar gal. That would be pleasant.” The caption for Gomez’s TikTok video reads, “Dreams really can come true! I’ve been nominated for a Golden Globe, guys. I’m about to shout.”
Even if Gomez didn’t win this year, she might have another chance in 2024. “Only Murders in the Building” will return for a third season on Hulu in July 2022. Although a release date has not yet been specified, Paul Rudd and Jesse Williams have excitedly joined the ensemble, which is already increasing.
