The book club is returning! The trailer for “Book Club 2: The Next Chapter,” the follow-up to 2018’s “Book Club,” was unveiled on December 19 by Focus Features. In that film, Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen play four longtime friends who have a longstanding book club. They all undergo significant life changes after reading “50 Shades of Grey.”
The four pals travel to Italy in the “Book Club 2: The Next Chapter” trailer. Beautiful pictures of the four women on vacation and getting into even more mischief can be seen in the video, but noticeably, neither reading nor discussing literature is seen. Focus Features offers the following synopsis of the movie: “The eagerly awaited sequel follows our four closest friends as they travel to Italy with their book club for the enjoyable ladies’ trip they never had. Their peaceful getaway becomes a once-in-a-lifetime cross-country adventure when things go awry and secrets are uncovered.”
With a $14 million budget, the first movie made $104 million at the box office. Bill Holderman served as the sequel’s director and wrote the script with Erin Simms.
